All I know is that I certainly won't be upset by the loss.
Installed game demo (can't remember the exact one, but I think it was SpellForce II, or TOCA). Few days later I tried to burn a CD... Device failed, thought Doh, tinkered for a day or so, then bought another... Also didn't work (getting suspicious now). Installed both writers to another machine, both worked... Hmmm... Clean install, both working again... More Hmmms... installed game, both writers failing. Did XP rollback.. Still failed..... Say what!!!
Only benefit was a clean XP, and spare cd writer!!
