Well, there are versions of Linux which are made for the beginner, like Ubuntu and SUSE, at least with that setup, just as long as it has a Windows Manager, or a GUI, it'll be good for Internet, E-Mail, and light casual gaming, so it'll be a great advantage over Windows if you use a version of Linux that uses a GUI built onto it.
