Let's discuss motion capture - .fbx and .bvh

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Let's discuss motion capture - .fbx and .bvh

I used to work in Motion Capture for Infogrames a few years ago (up to 2001). We used a capture system called Eva, which captured motion data which we then cleaned up manually in bespoke editing software.

The end result was an animated skeleton, to which could be attached any rigged 3D model. Is this not how .fbx/.bvh files work??

They were just getting into the realms of realtime capture and animation and buying up licences for Filmbox when I left, but I don't know enough about Filmbox to be able to offer any advice.
