3D online - some tests

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/3D online - some tests

Red,

Well to be honest the easy stuff is very easy in Virtools, hard stuff requires some in depth knowledge and that's where I'm headed with it. For example within twenty minutes of showing this version I had a new version with a guard parading around the village area on a fixed track - no ai, but animated and following a nice path.

Game environment:

I wish I could take the praise for the graphics but they come supplied - I have only spent a couple of hour on the game environment test remember.

The water one is nothing to do with me - it comes as a standard shaders demo in Virtools tutorials. It looks good, but I wondered if many people could actually see it running (I don't know too much about shaders).

I also wanted to see what everyone else thought of these demos, in particular such things as download size, quality in browser - I've done a lot of optimising on those cartoon textures, features available, ease of use for customers etc. I am currently developing the ss Great Britain in this format so you shall hopefully get to see what it looks like when she sails on-line for the first time in a few weeks time! :) Yes I shall implement some sound too and we shall see what that does to the file size or I could use external sound - I shall do more tests over the next few weeks or so and provide links to some of the more interesting ones.

My ultimate aim is to develop in browser games for websites to supplement the popular Flash and Shockwave ones. I'm trying to see if the market is ready as it were (if it is I need to be too!).
