- SATA harddrive(s) instead of ATA/E-IDE
- Depending on how current/fast your old system is, you may also need a new powersupply to provide enough juice for your new components
Already got SATA and I don't use it. I've got an Nforce NF7-s2g board :)
My PSU is 450watt.
I also have Raid but my system seems to spontaneously restart when it's configured, Not sure why!

- DDR2 / DDR3 memory instead of the original DDR (not compatible, runs at a different voltage)
Yup. I saw these coming in thanks to my job, and it's the original reason i got depressed that I wasted £2000 on my system only to be limited in upgrades. Bugger :P

I think it's [pci-e] been available in products for 2 years.
Well, in that case I should hold off for a year for its replacement!!!! :P
