Oblivion delayed by its advanced AI

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Oblivion delayed by its advanced AI

I hope they keep the ultra advanced AI around and let you download it as a mod. So others can see it, use it, maybe even like it.

This game is going to eat my soul for a full year. I can see it now. Morrowind kept me busy for about 2 months. Which is pretty long for a game these days. Morrowind lacked all that makes playing a game fun. As strange as that sounds. What it had was lots and lots of things to do, but once you did them, it got boring for me.

Even if this game has the same flaw. The AI will keep you guessing, kep things new. And I can deal with an un-fun to play system, if the content makes up for it. Which is what Morrowind did.

Playing the game itself wasn't fun. Not like bouncing around as Mario, or flipping around like Samus. Attacking wasn't fun in either mode. It wasn't hack-n-slashy or really FPS-y and it was sort of clunky and slow.

But the number of things to do and the depth of what you could do and how it would effect your world was staggering. If all Oblivion does is add a ton of AI bots to Morrowind, that near simulate playing Morrowind in some kinda multiplayer. With a new story on a new land. But otherwise the same. It would more than tripple the play time for me.

Add in 250+ more hours worth of dugeons, dynamic AI player interaction driven player-stories, a rich land, instances of VO or entirely VOed depending on how it turns out, outstanding GFX, and even more abilities, weapons, and items to collect and decorate your house with. I just can't wait. It would easily keep me entertained for a full year.... with breaks for Final Fantasy 12 and kingdom hearts 2 later on... I think this might end up being a 3 game year for me... Like 1998. Starcraft, half-life and zelda OOT.... I might play nothing else once one is released.
