That's already happened since computers were first invented pretty much. You'll never be able to do math faster than a 1960's calculator even if you spent your whole life training for it.
It all depends on what you mean by more powerful than humans. In many tasks they're already overwhelmingly better than us (hence the reason why they keep replacing people in industry)
Sure that's not 'striclty' AI, but all AI is made by the user. Even when you simply tell it to do some math.
