I always liked Lon and have no problems with him. This is a comment on the game only.
The original version was done with the "Windows" version of Pie's Game Creation System (a point and click game maker). Windows is in quotes because the Windows version was still 80% DOS based. Although I liked what Lonnie did back then and was happy for the praise he got (it was even shown in an art museum), I never found the game "original". It was and remains a clone of the original Bad Toys which was hand drawn black and white, and even the characters in Pencil Whipped are very similar to what was in the original Bad Toys.
The Best Pie Windows game ever made remains House of Cathalon. It was the only game that looked "professional", had good graphics, good level design and had a good story.
With the bugs in Pie's GCS, it was amazing anybody was able to make a complete game that worked. What games were made sucked. Here is a review of one of the better GCS made games. This game also made the list of worst games ever made.
However, the new version of Pencil Whipped is being made in FPS Creator, another point and click game maker. So, I don't really see why it is being posted here on a programming forum. Perhaps, like the new version of Bad Toys, the new version of Pencil Whipped will move to hand drawn color? Regardless, nothing original about Pencil Whipped.
