I still get surprised when I answer tech support from users that are trying to run Windows XP, Office 2003 and games, with only 128MB of RAM. "I had this system when I was running Windows 95 and it should be good enough to run XP with all my stuff on it!"
If you want the latest OS, expect to have the latest PC to run it. After a year or so, the hardware spec of average and then budget PCs will catch up anyway.
