My first interview for a programming job was with a small company writing client tracking for MHMR, Substance Abuse, and General Counseling centers. I had a regular interview and then came back to do a test where I had to learn a software package in 1 hour and then explain how it worked to another person in a half hour. I did really well and got the job, it helps that the other finalist totally messed up...
The most interesting interview was when I was flown halfway across the US (First class too) for an interview. It's amazing how well you get treated when you have a specific skill. I spent an entire day in interviews, must have seen 25 people that day in batches of 2-6 at a time. (The particular skill in question was that the company I was brought in to interview for was buying the software of the company I was currently employed by)
