Yup. It was the cache. The new version works OK on my hyperthreaded CPU. Will test it tomorrow on dual CPU machines but I don't think there'll be any problems.

I get between 96 and 120 fps. CPU is 3.0 GHz P4 and the graphics card is ATI X800XT PE.
