I used to use AVG but I fell out with it when I realised that it was what was causing Outlook to take up to 15 minutes to open even moderately sized mail folders - they weren't even that big, about 400 mails. Maybe it's got better recently but since then I've used eTrust EZ Antivirus (or whatever it used to be called) - cheap (free for the first year) and no resource hogging.
