My refresh timing is pretty negligable. The graphics are flat shaded boxes and spheres, 3000 tri's at once on a bad day, 5000 worst day of all, 2 lights and one texture. My code is basically a representation of the physics engine and ODE is the deciding factor. If I chop that bit out I get 60 fps even on a 8 year old PC. Trouble is on slow machines the physics at QuickStep = 0.15 can't be calculated in 1/60th a frame which causes the slow motion. Setting QuickStep=0.25 (or whatever figure I tried) has the slow PCs animation moving at the same speed even at a lower frame rate.
It's not the end of the world, and it's not a priority. Good docs are a pain to write I know but oh-so very important! They're more needed than this. But it'd be nice if anyone comes up with a solution (and surely people are writing code to work on slower machines too?) it'd be nice to hear how they've solved this.
