How to create objects using APIs?

The title of the topic probably says enoungh. ;)

I would like to be able to create Trackbar, Spinner, etc. gadgets using the APIs, but I can't figure out how! Could anyone tell me what I need to do, and what other functions I need to get the states, etc?
