I've little experience of OOP so I'm struggling slightly.
However, my major gripe with OOP in BlitzMax is it's turning me into a programmer when I only want to be a games creator.
It probably stems from my hopes for BMX.
I would have been happy with B2D+(realtime) alpha, rotation, scaling, lighting as it was the only stuff missing for me. I was just getting the hang of the alpha stuff limitations and considering B3D+nsprite pro when BlitzMax beta was announced.
I can't say I'm overly impressed at the moment. In fact, I was happier with 1.02 than 1.03.
The IDE hasn't advanced much (time for a 3rd party) and the debugger is poor. The suggestion the doc isn't to be updated (except through the Wiki) is a big disappointment.
I think what I'm saying is I can't get the impetus to worry about OOP when, at the moment, I'm not sure how useful the final product will be for me.
As for OOP itself, it's one of the last bastions of complexity which keep the plebs out of programming.
