I just got Reason 2.5 at a very reasonable $199 (US).
Version 3 is coming out soon so the price is discounted. In the week I've had it, I'm very impressed with the quality of the sounds and the "devices" within the program. The program has 2 synthesizers, 2 sample machines, an excellent mixer, a loop device, a drum module, pattern sequencer, and effects such as reverb, delay, phaser, chorus, distortion, and many others. It can output songs, sounds as Wav or AIFF files. Many new samples are available for free on the Propellerhead website to users.
