Personally, I can't see the point in these expensive bits of hardware when you can download samples and use a low-latency soundcard with MIDI input to use with the thousands of sample banks - including copies of the above Korg, Yamaha, Akai, etc etc. modules.
But I totally understand that some people love playing with real knobs rather than dragging a slider up and down :D There are subtle accoustic differences too.
I do believe a good quality, weighted-key keyboard is important though. Real instruments mixed in really help liven the mix too - for instance Rob's bomb-the-bass tune was much better due to his use of a real bass.
