Something I do occasionally is to bitwise combine consts, so instead of the Enum list running from 1 to whatever it would increase in a bit friendly manner, like this:

Enum Bitwise
    John  'gives 1
    Jack  'gives 2
    Mary  'gives 4
    Tom   'gives 8
    Dick  'gives 16
    Harry 'gives 32 etc
