Metaballs

Blitz3D Forums/Blitz3D Programming/Metaballs

Dear all

I am using blitz3d to visualise and interact with 3d medical models that I have created from 2d CT/MRI/fluoroscopic scans. I use a very narrow camera clip to 'move through' the structure, but as the structure is surface rendered, the object appears 'hollow'. I understand that metaballs are esentially objects volume rendered, so using the camera clip to move through this object, would the object appear 'solid'? Does anyone else have any experience with this? I am aware of the GE algorithm issue regarding patent, but does it apply to games or medical images?

Cheers Shawnus
