I can confirm that the demo crashes on my Pc (Athlon 1700+, WinXP, 768Mb Ram, Radeon 7500AIW) but the radeon_test runs ok all 3 tests
My Blitz3D Version is of course 1.86
You can try to upload a compiled (with 1.85) radeon_test so to check if it is something changed from V1.85 to V1.86
