Well I don't like the old one better, which is probably good news since you've done a lot of work on the new one ;)
The old one has all the things I hate in websites, scrolling text, drop down menus, that wire and monitor interface that practically every photoshop site on the net shows you how to make and animated GIF's. The basic site design was fine, but all those extras ruined it for me. I like clean and simple every time.
The new site is much cleaner, much more readable, with a much more balanced layout. The colours on the main page are fine. My only criticism would be the banner. It's way too big and that bright blue with the plasma beam or whatever it is clashes somewhat with the rest of the page. If you could make that a lot smaller ( 1/2 at least ) and desaturate the colours a little, I think it'd be much better.
Still a big step in the right direction in my opinion though.
