verlet physics update

Blitz3D Forums/Blitz3D Programming/verlet physics update

Perhaps I misunderstood the whole impulse thing. I was under the impression that it was simply a more complex method of handeling springs. I guess then that it is an integrator scheme?

sswift: One way you might handle the rod and tube situation is to create a constraint that takes three verlets. two to define the position and angle(just pitch/yaw) of the tube, and one to define the end of the rod. then have some values giving minimum distance, maximum distance, and possibly movement friction. then simply check if the end of the rod is below the minimum or maximum, and reposition. Finally, check if the end of the rod is in the line represented by the two tube verlets.

moderatly complicated, but it outa work......... as lon as you don't have a negative minumum. then you might require 4 verlets......

Oh yeah, I know that verlet is simple. no calculas or anything like runge kutta etc... Yet it is surprisingly stable and fast so it's a pretty good choice for games.
