Sure it's a real name. The 'slack jawed yokel' on the Simpsons is named Cletus.

And I have to point out that hillbillies and Cajuns are entirely different.

Cajuns are those bayou dwelling, fan boat driving, alligator poaching, 'Cajun French' speaking dudes.
