What you described in your first post has absolutely nothing to do with the text problems with the Nvidia drivers.
Just for the hell of it try reinstalling DirectX.
Personally I hate the video chips they are throwing in the notebooks and desktops. Contrary to the claims of the manufacturers they just do not have the same compatibility and performance as the card counterparts.
I would visit the Toshiba site and download the latest video drivers they have there on their site for your model notebook.
